KSDK - When you tune in to NewsChannel Five what you see isn't exactly what you get, sure Pat is as energetic off camera as he is on and Jennifer really, really loves dogs, but there's more to a newscast than meets the eye.
Producers, directors and a couple of other people need to communicate with everyone you see which is why anchors and reporters have an IFB in their ear.
That ear piece has to be connected to an IFB box and don't forget we're all wearing microphones which also has a little black box, boxes which need to be clipped onto something.
"A few years ago I just wore suits all the time, the reason I wore suits all the time is because I had somewhere to clip my battery packs to," Chief Meteorologist Cindy Preszler said.
But Cindy wanted to wear dresses so she made a few calls and did some research.
"I went online to a military site and they had little patches that people in the army and military wear up on their arms and legs that they put their guns in," Preszler said.
She took that knowledge and the boxes to her tailor and now our female anchors and reporters are able to plug in without the fear of their pantyhose coming down.
