BALLWIN, Mo. (KSDK) - In a neighborhood off Big Bend in Ballwin, something seems oddly out of place.
"I was actually away over the weekend and to come home and see the flag was awesome," said Brian McCluskey.
But sit down with the McCluskeys and you quickly learn this is a domestic dispute that's been stirring since before they said I do.
"Well we know who's going to win the series, the Cardinals! So I thought it would be nice since I have him living in St. Louis that we should give some recognition to his team," added his wife Jennifer McCluskey.
He was born in Massachusetts.
"I grew up on the 75 team. My great uncle was a Red Sox player," Brian pointed out.
She's a Missouri girl.
"My family has always been Cardinals fans," Jennifer explained.
Yet somehow their basement has a bit more Boston memorabilia.
"But we're sitting in old Busch Stadium seats, Jennifer added.
Even those, however, bring the focus back to Beantown.
"These are the seats that they won in 2004 so I'm pretty happy," Brian said.
It's a friendly rivalry that only really separates them at game time.
"During the game we don't talk much," Jennifer explained.
Truth be told, it's a conflict that actually makes them closer.
"I said just imagine how many people are out there and they don't even realize baseball is still going on and we have this excitement and energy and fun around both of our teams," Jennifer added.
Proving once again love really can conquer all.
