ST. LOUIS - There's a new book on store shelves that is dedicated to Christmas in St. Louis.

It's 137 pages of our neighborhoods' light displays, big and small. Old traditions and new ones. There's an old black and white photo of a nativity scene with real animals, as well as what is now known as snowflake street in St. Louis Hills.

"And then we have eight chapters that I wrote on the history of St. Louis Christmases and traditions and especially things like folk beliefs and superstitions that you must practice in St. Louis in order to make sure the new year is good," explained Dr. John Oldani, author of "Christmas in St. Louis."

You can find the book at just about every St. Louis area bookstore, the gift shop at both the Missouri Botanical Garden and History Museum. It costs $32.95.
