NORTH POLE – The North American Aerospace Defense Command is tracking Santa Claus.
The tradition started in 1955, and continues today with the North Warning System. Crews monitor the radar for indications Santa is leaving the North Pole.
Satellites with infrared sensors are used, which can find Rudolph's nose. His schnozz emits an infrared signature that mimics a missile launch.
This will also be the 15th year pre-positioned SantaCams are used, which captures Santa and his reindeer. The photos are uploaded to NORAD's website and available for you to view.
