ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Hundreds of computer whizzes put their brains to the test Saturday, all in a mighty quest to win $50,000.

GlobalHack's Hackathon at Union Station brought together tech developers and designers who split into teams to solve a technology-based problem.

The kicker? They only had 48 hours to do it.

Even though $50,000 is a lot of money, the event coordinator says that wasn't the biggest draw.

"Everybody wants to build cool stuff," Gabe Lozano said. "That's why we live in this world. When you build a great product, you just feel good about it. It makes you realize if you can build something in 48 hours, all the other ideas you have in the future seem possible."

The competition wraps up on Sunday. The winner will go on to compete for $1 million.
