KSDK – Fear not, Seinfeld fans.

Wayne Knight, who is best known for playing Jerry's nemesis Newman, is not dead, despite internet reports to the contrary. The hoax started on Sunday, when numerous sites – including fake versions of US Weekly and TMZ – reported that the 58-year-old actor died after his car collided with a semi-tractor trailer.

The actor quickly started to trend nationally (including on Google).

Knight took to Twitter to tell fans that he is in fact alive.

"Does someone have to DIE to trend? Geez! Thanks for all the love everybody. I didn't know you cared! Glad to be breathing!" He wrote.

Another tweet read "Some of you will be glad to hear this, others strangely disappointed, but…I am alive and well!"

Knight joins the ranks of other celebrities who have been the internet of death hoaxes including Paul McCartney, Celine Dion, Justin Bieber and Morgan Freeman.
