ST. LOUIS – Schnucks Markets has announced they will be selling a special beer created by Schlafy to commemorate their 75 years of business.

Four Schnucks beer experts were sent to Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood last fall and spent the afternoon selecting the hops that would create the commemorative IPA.

According to Chris Kline, certified cicerone and Schnucks' beer guy, Schlafly started with a "cream IPA" as their base beer.

"We spent a lot of time creating an 'approachable IPA,' a beer that hopheads and newbies alike could enjoy. We chose Simcoe, Amarillo, Cascade, Mosaic and Nelson Sauvin hops. Through the complexity of those delicious hops you get tropical and stone fruits, grapefruits, floral and grassy notes with a bit of pine," said Kline. "What would otherwise be too sweet a beer is balanced brilliantly by 45 IBUs making it one of the least bitter but best balanced American IPAs out there. At six percent alcohol by volume, it is a bit stronger than a session ale but tame enough for you to have more than just one – and you will!"

The Schnucks Anniversary India Pale Ale is available now, but you should get them while you can! They are a one-time only release.
