ST. LOUIS (KSDK) – Dozens laced up their walking shoes Sunday and headed to Forest Park in the name of Muscular Dystrophy.

The St. Louis Muscle Walk kicked off around noon near the Muny. Organizers say about 600 people came out for the one-mile stroll.

The O'Harver family was one of them, walking in honor of their son Brandon.

"We live in a small town of 6,000 and we were able to raise $10,000 for health for our son, and we couldn't have done it without them," Matt O'Harver said. "We just loved the support they gave us."

Organizers hope to raise $100,000 during the walk.

All of the proceeds support the St. Louis Chapter of MDA.
