LOS ANGELES - While most of us will spend Easter weekend with our families, one St. Louisan on her way to stardom will spend it practicing.

"The Voice" is back with live shows on Monday, and Tess Boyer will be there. The Glen Carbon native lost twice in the battle rounds, but was saved by the judges each time.

Now she's in the top 12 on Team Shakira.

Boyer says she couldn't have made it through all the ups and downs without her hometown.

"I don't like to cry in front of people, and I cried, literally, all week. I was just so overwhelmed with joy. Honestly, it was the most amazing experience. St. Louis has backed me up like I could never have imagined. I was so honored to have such a beautiful, beautiful city to represent. And I couldn't be any happier with that," said Boyer. "Plus, we're the home of the Rams and the Cardinals, and it's the best sports teams in the world."

"The Voice" is live on Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. on NewsChannel 5.
