MEMPHIS – Have you been anxiously awaiting a Midwest visit of Britain's royal family? This weekend might be your chance to catch a glimpse of Princes Harry and William only a few hours from home!
Both men are expected to appear at the upcoming wedding of their friend, Guy Pelly, in Memphis. Pelly is set to marry American hotel heiress Lizzy Wilson.
For months, British and American media outlets have tried to confirm if Harry, William, and Kate will make the long trip to attend the wedding. Hello Magazine reports Kate will likely stay at home to prevent a "global media circus." They say William will only fly in for two days before heading home.
The funeral for Mark Shand, brother of the princes' step-mother, Camilla Parker-Bowles, will be held on Thursday in Dorset. William and Harry are also likely to attend that ceremony, which means the pair wouldn't arrive in Memphis until Friday. Shand died last week after slipping and hitting his head outside a New York City nightclub.
Harry's ex-girlfriend, Cressida Bonas, is also reported to have been invited to the wedding after becoming friends with Wilson. It is unknown if she will attend since her split with Harry was announced Tuesday.
Pelly, 31, has been friends with the princes for more than 20 years, and is often blamed for being a bad influence on the men, particularly Harry. According to Us Magazine, Pelly's mother used to date William and Harry's uncle, Prince Andrew, and was a good friend of Princess Diana's.
In 2013 Pelly met Wilson, and the pair became engaged in December during a trip to Tennessee.
The Mirrorreports the weekend will begin with drinks at the Memphis Hunt and Polo Club. The ceremony will take place Saturday, during which the princes are expected to serve as ushers.
When The Mirror contacted Buckingham Palace for comment, they said they do not comment on private engagements of the princes.
