KSDK – Habitat for Humanity got a head start in celebrating Mother's Day.

Dozens of volunteers spent the day building five homes in Spanish Lake. And what made the build even more special was that all of the workers were women.

"We serve all sorts of families, whether it's single fathers, single mothers, married families," Katie Harder said. "It's so important that women come together to support each other and the community."

A total of 36 women worked on today's project. And they did some serious work, including installing sub floors and safety nets.
