Filming is underway on the upcoming Superman/Batman movie, Warner Bros. Pictures confirmed Wednesday.
The studio also released the logo and title of the hotly anticipated superhero film, which stars Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman.
The title Dawn of Justice appears to reference the Justice League, DC Comics' all-star team of superheroes. For the uninitiated, the Justice League is typically comprised of: Superman (a flying deity), Batman (masked dude with toys), Wonder Woman (warrior goddess), Green Lantern (chap wielding an all-powerful ring), Martian Manhunter (a shape-shifting alien), Hawkman (winged vigilante), Flash (lightning quick smart-aleck), and Aquaman (he talks to fish).
Director Zack Snyder, who helmed Superman's return to the big screen in 2013's Man of Steel," is back behind the camera, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane reprising their roles from that film.
New additions to the cast/story include Gal Gadot (The Fast and The Furious) as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons (The Man in the Iron Mask) as Alfred, and Holly Hunter in an undisclosed role.
Filming takes place in Detroit, Michigan; Illinois; Tunisia, Africa; and the South Pacific.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens May 6, 2016.
