In this episode of HBO's Game of Thrones, a decision is made on Tyrion's future after an action-filled trial by combat.
On behalf of Tyrion, Oberyn Martell fights Gregor Clegane, also known as The Mountain. Martell wants to avenge his sister's death in this duel. He repeatedly asks Clegane to admit his involvement in her murder.
"You raped her. You murdered her. You killed her children," Martell screams. He stabs Clegane a couple times, showing off some fancy fighting skills. Martell then leaps to strike him forcefully.
But just as Martell is about to finish Clegane off, he pulls the weapon out of his chest, saying that Clegane could not die before he had confessed. "Who gave you the order?" Martell shouts, as he makes eye contact with the Lannisters.
Clegane takes this opportunity to trip Martell and get on top of him. Clegane says, "Elia Martell, I killed her children (...) Then, I smashed her head like this." Clegane pushes Martell's eyes out and crushes his bloody skull into the ground. What a scene!
With Martell's loss, Tyrion Lannister is sentenced to death.
Other major highlights include:
• Sansa Stark truly becomes Lord Petyr Baelish's accomplice. She lies to the panel of the Vale about what happened to her aunt Lysa Arryn, saying that she killed herself. Stark tells Baelish that she helped him because if the panel had executed Peter, she was afraid about what they would do to her. Baelish then guides Robin Arryn on what it means to rule the Vale.
• Daenerys Targaryen banishes Jorah Mormont to King's Landing after she finds out that he had been sending information to Varys about her life. She says she no longer wants him in Meereen, dead or alive.
• Wildlings invade the town where Gilly and her baby are hiding out at a tavern with prostitutes. Sam is worried that Gilly is dead and upset that he had left her behind. The men of the Night's Watch reassure him that she could have escaped. But Jon Snow is concerned that the army will come for them next. How will about 100 men beat 100,000?
