ST. LOUIS COUNTY - A Parkway South High School junior is one of four finalists in a nation-wide talent contest.

A few weeks ago, 16-year-old Madison Applegate of Ballwin entered one of her original songs in a contest called The Big Break. It's being run by "Kidd Kraddick in the Morning," a nationally syndicated morning radio show.

Applegate was one of only eight performers chosen from thousands of up-and-coming singers to make it to the semi-finals. And Monday morning, she got a call telling her she is now in the final four!

"I was up at 6 a.m., pacing my room," said Madison, "and I received a phone call from a Texas number and I answered and they said we need you to call us back on this number, you're in the top four and congratulations! We're going to interview you, and I was like thanks so much!"

You can see Madison's audition and vote for her in the finals through Kidd Kraddick's website. Voting ends at 10 a.m. June 13. The winner gets to record a single and make a music video.

You can follow Madison on Twitter at @maddyapplez and watch her videos on her YouTube channel.
