Fairview Heights, IL (KSDK) - Detectives with the Fairview Heights Police Department have released surveillance images of four people suspected of breaking into a woman's vehicle outside St. Clair Square Mall on Black Friday and stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.
According to Det. James Mason, a police spokesman, authorities were contacted around 10:10 p.m. on November 25 in response to a burglary report at the mall.
The victims said they went on an all-day shopping spree with their daughters, an annual holiday tradition. They arrived at St. Clair Square at 6 p.m. after 12 hours of shopping, and parked 5 spots away from the door. When they came back four hours later, their car was empty.
Thieves had popped the lock with a screwdriver and taken everything inside.
Mason said on November 27, the victims contacted the police department to say some of the stolen merchandise had been returned to the retail chains from which they were purchased.
Police are asking the public for help in identifying the suspects' identities and whereabouts.
