COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Missouri is giving women's basketball coach Robin Pingeton (PIHNJ-tuhn) an extra year to turn around the struggling program after a two-win Big 12 season that was the worst conference mark in school history.

Athletic director Mike Alden announced the one-year contract extension late last week. It's the second extension for Pingeton in as many years. She signed a five-year deal when hired in 2010 from Illinois State.

Missouri finished the regular season 12-17 overall and 2-16 in league play in its final Big 12 season, and was often overmatched before winning two conference games late in the year.

The last-place Tigers are seeded 10th in the Big 12 Tournament and face No. 7 Oklahoma State on Wednesday in Kansas City. The Cowgirls beat Missouri 68-47 on Saturday in Stillwater.
