St. Louis (KSDK) - Dozens of students in the St. Louis area spent Thursday honoring Trayvon Martin.

They held a rally called "Stand Up for Trayvon" on the campus of Harris-Stowe State University.

Martin is the 17-year old who was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch captainin South Florida.

The shooter, George Zimmerman, claims he acted in self-defense when he shot the unarmed teen.

But many people, including the students at this rally say Martin was killed because of his race.
