Manchester, MO (KSDK) - Police say it was a "shake and bake" meth lab explosion that started a fire in a Manchester home Thursday night.

It happened in the 1100 block of Holgate, near Highway 141 and Big Bend, around 9 p.m.

Three people were arrested and charged with several crimes including drug manufacturing, negligent burning and assault.

The homeowner wasn't charged but had to be treated for minor burns after she tried to put the fire out.

Police say the three people arrested were cooking meth in the homes basement.

Neighbors say they are still in shock after learning about what was happening in the otherwise quiet and peaceful neighborhood.

"It's just not the type of thing you expect to see happen in a neighborhood like this," said neighbor, Mark Winkler.
