(KNBC) -- A hard day's work at Kelley Blue Book meant hopping into comfortable cars to find the top 10 cushy rides under $30,000.
"It's an area that is kind of under-emphasized," said Jack Nerad, executive editorial director for Kelley Blue Book. "A lot of people talk about performance but we think it's one of the most important aspects for many people when they purchase a car."
Six U.S.-manufactured cars made the list, the parameters for which were based on how the car handled, its seating, roominess and quietness, Nerad said.
The 2012 Chrysler 300 topped the list: It's "quiet, comfortable, stylish, well-appointed luxury sedan missing just two things: the snooty badge and the sticker shock," according to kbb.com.
Buick landed two spots on the list with its 2012 Regal, at number 6 and 2012 Verano, at number 8.
Buick owed its double whammy to the cars' silence and roominess, according to Kelley Blue Book.
"This is an area that domestic cars have excelled in for a long time," said Jack Nerad, executive editorial director for Kelley Blue Book. "This is their sweet spot."
Why $30,000? Nerad said that price tag seemed reasonable for a fairly good family car.
