St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office charged a South St. Louis man in connection to a fatal burglary attempt in a North City neighborhood.

According to Katie O'Sullivan, a spokeswoman for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting occurred at 11:25 a.m. on August 29, 2011, in the 2000 block of East Obear in the College Hill neighborhood.

Witnesses told police a man kicked in the rear door of an apartment and the victim, 20-year-old Deon Greenwood, went to investigate. The man who kicked in the door began shooting and fled the scene.

Greenwood was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators were eventually able to identify and arrest 25-year-old Daaron Harris for Greenwood's murder. Harris was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary and two counts of armed criminal action.

Daaron Harris remains jailed on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
