Cape Girardeau County, MO (KSDK) - Animal Care Program inspectors from the Missouri Department of Agriculture rescued nine dogs, five cats, five equines, and several birds from a residence near Millersville, Missouri.

The rescued animals were taken to St. Louis where they will be placed with licenses shelters and rescue groups, including the Humane Society of Missouri.

The rescue came after the Animal Care Program received a tip through Operation Bark Alert. The tip indicated the animals were housed in substandard conditions and were used for commercial breeding purposes.
