St. Louis, MO (KSDK) -- The Chess Club and Scholastic Center of St. Louisaregearing up for the kick off ofthe 2012 U.S. and Women's Chess Championships on Tuesday, May 8.

On Monday morning, the top 22 chess players from across the United States joined around 60 students from the St. Louis Language Immersion School to help Mayor Francis Slay christen St. Louis as the new "Gateway to Chess".

They also unveiled the world's largest chess piece, thats size breaks a Guinness World Record.

This is the fourth year in a row the St. Louis Chess Club has hosted the tournaments, and players will be competing for more than $224,000 in prizes.
