Bonne Terre, Mo (KSDK) -- An attempted abduction in Bonne Terre may be connected to a similar incident in Terre du Lac.

Bonne Terre Police Sgt. Benjamin Adams said two men approached a 7-year-old girl and tried to get her to get into a truck with them at 7:30 p.m. on May 16. The child refused and ran off.

The girl told NewsChannel Five, "I was thinking that he'd get out of the truck and take me."

Police said the victim's description of the men and truck they were driving is similar to an incident thathappened earlier in the evening in Terre du Lac.

Policesaid the two menwerein a black extended-cab truck, possibly a Ford Ranger or F-Series. There was a ladder in the bed and the tailgate on the truck was possibly primer-colored.

The Bonne Terre Police Department is working with the North St. Francois County R-1 School District and area child care facilities to ensure children are safe.
