COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (AP) - A Colorado wildfire threatening homes and the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs doubled in size overnight to 24 square miles.
Fire information officer Rob Dyerberg said Wednesday the fire grew by more than 12½ square miles late Tuesday.
Dyerberg says homes were destroyed but authorities don't yet know how many.
The fire forced frantic mandatory evacuation notices for more than 32,000 residents, including people living at the Air Force Academy.
