St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - There's nothing more American than apple pie on the Fourth of July!

Many of you know Katie Felts is an encyclopedia of sports, but what you don't know is that she's also a great cook.

Katie brings in dishes on the weekends and they always get rave reviews, so we asked her to bring in a Fourth of July dish we know you're going to want to try.

Soda Cracker Pie

3 egg whites
½ tsp baking powder
1 cup sugar
14 crackers, crushed
1 cup pecans, chopped
½ pint whipping cream
1 tsp vanilla

Beat egg whites until stiff, adding the baking powder and sugar while beating. Fold in crackers and pecans. Pour into a buttered pie pan. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees and cool for 2 hours. Whip the cream and add vanilla. Spread that over the pie and refrigerate.
