St. Louis County (KSDK) - The Daniel Boone bridge over the Missouri River will soon undergo a massive makeover.
Today MODOT announced the Walsh-Alberici team won the project with a $111 million bid.
The plan calls for replacing the westbound bridge and building a new Chesterfield Airport Road interchange.
The new bridge will also be bicycle friendly, connecting the Katy Trail to the Monarch Levee Trail.
Because the old westbound bridge will remain open during construction, crews expect little to no impact on the 50 thousand vehicles that cross the span every day.
Construction will begin in February. The new bridge will be open in November of 2014, with the entire project including rehab work will be completed by 2015.
