St. Peters, MO (KSDK) - A 38-year-old St. Peters man and his 29-year-old girlfriend were arrested Wednesday for allegedly robbing a local jewelry store and then pawning the items for cash.
According to Officer Melissa Doss, a St. Peters Police Department spokeswoman, the robbery took place June 25 at Smith Jewelry and Coins on Old Highway 94.
The suspect walked into the store, displayed a handgun, and demanded more than 100 gold and diamond rings from the store owner. No one was injured in the robbery.
The St. Peters Police Department received an anonymous tip identifying the suspected robber as Kenneth Crocker, Doss said. Police arrested Crocker and his girlfriend, Crystal Siefke, without incident.
Siefke admitted to pawning some of the stolen jewelry at pawn shops across the area, Doss said. Police searched the couple's home and found approximately 70 stolen rings.
In 2009, Crocker was arrested for two counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of stealing over $500 and one count of first-degree property damage. He was sentenced to five years of supervised probation.
On June 24, Siefke was arrested at a local Wal-Mart for stealing.
The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged Crocker with first-degree robbery and Siefke with receiving stolen property. They're being held in St. Charles County Jail on $50,000 and $10,000 bond, respectively.
