Savannah Guthrie is not helping Today.

ABC's rival Good Morning America has beaten the former morning kingpin in each of the three days since she officially replaced Ann Curry as Matt Lauer's co-host. And Wednesday's margin was the biggest yet, as GMA claimed a 582,000-viewer lead, with 4.4 million to Today's 3.8 million, according to preliminary Nielsen ratings.

For the three-day period, GMA is averaging 4.38 million viewers to Today's 4.02 million, reversing the pecking order that cemented Today's status as the top-rated morning show since 1995.

GMA won four weeks in late spring, boosted by its Dancing with the Stars contestants, but it is now also beating Today among the target audience of adults ages 25 to 54 sold to advertisers, by a smaller margin of 39,000 viewers for the three-day period.

Lower ratings-along with a perceived lack of chemistry-led NBC to drop Curry on June 28, prompting a wave of complaints by her supporters. While Guthrie, a lawyer who has co-hosted the third hour of Today since last summer, was praised by NBC, it appears she's worsening the show's competitive position.
