Belleville, IL (KSDK) - The SWIC bomb threat suspect has been charged, the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office said Friday.
James Sherrell, 19, was charged with one count of disorderly conduct and remains in police custody at the St. Clair County Jail.
The pencil-written bomb threat was discovered at 8 a.m. Thursday in the first floor men's bathroom in the main building at Southwestern Illinois College Belleville. All students and staff were sent home for the day.
The person who discovered the note, later identified as James Sherrell, spoke with St. Clair County sheriff's deputies later that morning.
According to Captain Steve Johnson, a spokesman for the sheriff's department, investigators noticed several inconsistencies in Sherrell's story, leading them to an arrest.
