Collinsville, IL (KSDK) - A boy inspired by the story of a cancer patient is helping raise thousands of dollars for pediatric cancer research.

Bryce Kelly is holding his seventh Alex's Lemonade Stand event this weekend. The stand will be open at 704 Caseyville Road Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Kelly said he was inspired to open the stand after seeing a documentarly about Alex Scott seven years ago. Scott was a four-year-old cancer patient who opened a lemonade stand to raise money to find a cure for all children with cancer. She passed away in 2004.

Kelly saidthelemonade stand has raised$18,000 over the past seven years.
