St. Louis County (KSDK) - A curve in the road and wet pavement is blamed for a head-on crash in southwest St. Louis County early Saturday.

Officials say they responded to the scene around 7:15 a.m. Saturday and said a man driving southbound on Highway 21 at Walden Ridge was rounding the curve when his car slid and crashed headon into an oncoing sport utility vehicle.

The man was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. A child in the victims car was also injured and is hospitalized.

The driver of the sport utility vehicle was not beleive to have been injured in the crash.

No names have been released at this time
