Hazelwood, MO (KSDK) - One person has been charged aftera Hazelwood man died in a fire earlier this month.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged 20-year-old Jeremy Henderson with second-degree murder and first-degree arson.

Authorities responded to the 5200 block of Ville Rosa Lane around 11:45 p.m. August 4 for a report of a fire.

When firefighters arrived they found the building filled with smoke, and six people were trapped inside. Five of those people were rescued from the third floor.

The fire went to a second alarm shortly after midnight.

Michael Mansfield, 48, was found dead inside his apartment.

Theprobable cause statement says Henderson admitted on August 10 that he helped other people start the fire and was a lookout while others poured gasoline in the hallways of the building.

He says he also watched one other person throw a lit match onto the soaked carpet.

Henderson is held on a $250,000 cash-only bond.
