Collinsville, IL (KSDK) -- The City of Collinsville has named a new Chief of Police, the city announced Tuesday.

Starting September 3, 2012,Eric Van Hook will assume all roles and responsibilities of police chief.

Van Hook has over 20 years of public safety experience. Past positions Van Hook has held include DARE Officer,Detective, Patrol Officer, Detective Sergeant, Lieutenant-Watch Commander, Captain-Operations Commander in O'Fallon, and Deputy Commander of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis.

Oncepolice chief, itwill be Van Hooks responsibility to oversee, direct, and plan all activities of the police department personnel in Collinsville.
