Belleville, IL (KSDK) - A Cahokia woman who pleaded guilty to a reduced criminal charge in the Christmas Eve death of her little boy in 2005, was ordered to prison for 16 years.

30 year old Starr Lohman was issued the punishment Tuesday afternoon in St. Clair County where she pleaded guilty earlier this year to a charge of aggravated battery of her six year old son, Ryon Smith.

Investigators found the youngster on the floor of a bedroom closet on December 24th 2005. That is where authorities say the child had been repeatedly beaten and abused.

Lohnman's former boyfriend was found guilty of murder during trial earlier this year and was sentenced to a life prison term in the crime.

Evidence at trial showed Crutchfield tortured young Ryon, then locked him into a closet for days, taking him often from time to time to further abuse the boy.
