CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WUSA) - Thursday in Charlottesville Circuit Court, George Huguely V will be sentenced for killing his ex-girlfriend in May 2010.
Judge Edward Hogshire will decide whether to heed the recommended 26 year sentence for the former University of Virginia lacrosse player.
Huguely, 24, was convicted of second-degree murder and grand larceny in the death of Yeardley Love, who was a player on the UVA's women's lacrosse team, in February.
Love was found dead in her off-campus apartment in Charlottesville.
