East St. Louis, IL (KSDK) - The Illinois Department of Transportation will begin lane closures on the Martin Luther King Bridge next week to perform bridge inspections, weather permitting.
From Monday, September 10 to Friday, September 14, westbound lanes of the MLK Bridge will be closed from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The westbound lanes will be reopened to traffic after 6 p.m. each day. Eastbound lanes will remain open the entire time.
On Monday, September 17, both eastbound lanes will be closed from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those eastbound lanes will be reopened after 3 p.m. each day. Westbound lanes will be open to motorists.
And from Tuesday, September 18 to Friday, September 21, the right lane on eastbound MLK Bridge will be closed from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
IDOT will place traffic control devices to assist motorists during their commute through the work zones.
