St. Louis (KSDK) - Lawyers for a Normandy high school teenager filed suit against the school district and the security guard accused of using excessive force and causing injuries so severe, the student needed open heart surgery.

The I-Team has been following the story of Damontae Woods since he ended up in the ICU one year ago.

Court documents filed Wednesday allege the Normandy high school security guard threw woods to the ground and inflicted a "knee drop" onto his chest, causing his heart to rupture.

Woods is now on the heart transplant list and has been unable to return to school.

Last week, the school district announced it had found no wrong doing and the security guard returned to work.

NewsChannel 5 reached out to the district for comment about the lawsuit, but have not heard back.
