(KSDK) -- The star of HBO's hit shows "Treme" and "The Wire," Wendell Pierce was in St. Louis over the weekend to attend the Food Summit.

The summit focuses on food access, food justice and community resources. Pierce delivered the keynote speech at the event, held at the Missouri Historical Society, on Saturday.

Pierce stopped by Today In St. Louis Saturday morning to talk about his work in New Orleans. The actor-turned-activist is working to open grocery stores that feature healthy food options in low-income neighborhoods.
