East St. Louis, Ill (KSDK) -- A driver has been taken into custody following a pursuit and fiery crash.

East St. Louis policesaid Alorton police tried to stop a vehicle that was driving erratically, but the driver continued. The driver blew past a stopped school bus that was picking up children, so police backed off.

Police spotted the driver again at 29th and Bond. The driver took off and hit a red Excursion around 25th and Bond in East St. Louis. The car then hit a pole and caught on fire as it rolled and flipped.

The driver of the car jumped out of the wrecked car.

Railroad police who were working nearby on tracks took the driver into custody.

The name of the driver has not been released.
