St. Louis (KSDK) - The St. Louis Cardinals and Major League Baseball are preparing for a wet Game 3 of the National League Championship Series.

We're told the field at Busch Stadium can handle significant rainfall, and the Cardinals and MLB will be watching multiple weather services throughout the day Wednesday.

A World Series game was rained out last year and in 2006, but a team spokesperson is optimistic Wednesday's game will be played.

"We're going to play baseball tomorrow. We're going to do everything we can to play baseball tomorrow and rain or shine this is going to be the place to be. Fans will want to be down here, take part in the rally beforehand," said St. Louis Cardinals spokesperson Ron Watermon.

The decision whether to start the game is ultimately up to MLB, and Watermon says an afternoon start gives the league some extra wiggle room to delay the game.

If the league does decide to call off Wednesday's game, we're told the schedule will likely slide back one day and your tickets for Wednesday would be good for Thursday.
