Clayton, MO (KSDK) - A west St. Louis County man has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for raping a 15 year old girl in Kirkwood in 2011.
Punishment was handed down to 20 year old Robert Hunt of Manchester Tuesday, after he was found guilty by jurors in October.
Hunt was convicted of forcible rape charges and a single count of armed criminal action in connection to an August 2011 attack on the victim.
Investigators say Hunt was riding his bicycle in the area of Ballas and Old Big Bend Road on August 15, 2011, when he encountered the minor aged victim who was sitting on a bench.
Hunt and his victim began talking when he convinced the young girl to walk behind a nearby building where he sexually assaulted her.
The victim later told police what had occurred and Hunt was arrested the following day.
The same jury that convicted Hunt on the rape and armed criminal action crimes on October 12th, found Hunt not guilty on another charge of sodomizing the young victim.
Judge Gloria Clark Reno ordered Hunt to serve 25 years on the rape conviction, followed by a consecutive three year prison term on the armed criminal action.
