Tyler, TX (KLTV/CNN) - Police in Texas are searching for a man they say kidnapped his 4-year-old son after shooting the boy's mother to death Wednesday.
Authorities issued an Amber Alert for Lucas Calvert.
They believe the boy is in danger while with his father, 41-year-old James Calvert.
Police say Calvert shot and killed his ex-wife, Jelena Radovanovic Sriraman, at a Tyler church mission home. She had been staying there while she got back on her feet.
"Jelena was one of our new members, a new American, she just received her citizenship recently and we were helping her to stay here, ministering to her as she was going to college to further her education," said Pastor Larry Craig of Southern Oaks Baptist Church.
Church members preparing for a fall block party found the victim's body.
Calvert is believed to be driving a 2000 gray four-door Buick LeSabre with Texas plates DP4-G858. Records show he has been in trouble with the law in the past.
Lucas has brown hair and brown eyes.
He was last seen wearing a long sleeve blue sweatshirt and gray sweat pants, and has silver caps on some teeth.
