St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - A man accused of attacking someone at gunpoint was later arrested when he returned to the scene of the crime to ask his intended victim for the weapon back, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office said Friday.

The incident happened Friday morning at a bus stop on West Florissant. Investigators said the suspect, identified as Lester White, approached the victim from behind, put him in a headlock and placed a gun at his back.

The victim grabbed the firearm and began struggling with the suspect, police said. Witnesses at the bus stop helped the victim wrestle the gun away from Lester White and subdue him. White was able to break free and ran off.

The victim went to a nearby clinic and spoke with a security officer. Police responded to the scene and the gun was recovered.

Police said while the victim was talking to the security officer, Lester White approached the victim and asked for his gun back. He was arrested at the scene.

The Circuit Attorney's Office charged Lester White with first-degree attempted robbery, third-degree assault and armed criminal action.
