Mike Brown has been fired by the Los Angeles Lakers, according to his agent Warren Legarie.
The Lakers are off to a 1-4 start and will play Golden State tonight at the Staples Center.
Los Angeles has been without Steve Nash after the guard sustained a leg injury, and a not fully game-fit Dwight Howard who is still recovering from back surgery.
The Lakers have the highest payroll in the league, coming in just over $100 million, and are also off to the worst start in the Western Conference.
Brown struggled to institute the Princeton offense, which was supposed to lessen Kobe Bryant's offensive workload.
It is not yet known, who will assume Brown's duties though assistants Bernie Bickerstaff and Check Person seem the likely interim choices.
