St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - A newborn black-and-white colobus monkey is now on display at the Saint Louis Zoo.

The baby colobus monkey, Kivuli, was born on Halloween at the Saint Louis Zoo's Primate House. Kivuli is Swahili for "ghost" or "shadow."

Baby colobus monkeys are born with all white hair and a pink face. Adult colobus monkeys are primarily black in color with white hair around their faces and on part of their tails. Infants typically reach adult coloration at six months, according to the zoo.

Kivuli is the first baby for 13-year-old Cecelia. The group matriarch, 25-year-old Roberta, watches over both Cecelia and Kivuli. Roberta has two offspring of her own. Kivuli's father, 6-year-old Kima, also lives with the group. The family of six can be viewed at the Primate House.

Colobus monkeys are native to the forests in east and central Africa.
