Toronto, Canada (RTV) -- A monkey dressed in a coat shocked shoppers at an IKEA store in Toronto Sunday.

Police said the 7-month-old escaped from its crate and managed to find his way outside of a parked car.

At first shoppers thought it was fake, but quickly learned otherwise when it darted around the crowd screaming.

Onlookers eventually managed to get the animal inside and authorities were called to the scene.

Toronto Animal Services said the owner signed the monkey over to the organization and faces a single charged of having a prohibited animal.
