ST. LOUIS (AP) - The FBI is mourning the loss of one of its own.

Special Agent Jarrod Petrelli of the St. Louis office died Thursday while attending a law enforcement conference on gangs in Boca Raton, Fla. The FBI says he was three days shy of his 35th birthday and left behind a wife and three young daughters.

A cause of death is not yet known.

Petrelli joined the FBI in St. Louis in August 2008. He was assigned to fighting violent gangs and in October received the Distinguished Service Award for an investigation that led to the dismantling of a violent heroin trafficking ring.

A funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday at St. Clare's Church in Braintree, Mass. Petrelli will be buried with military honors in Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.
