St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - A woman, who along with her girlfriend, smoked drugs with a man they met in Forest Park more than three years ago, has admitted her role in the man's murder.

23 year old Mellonie Jones pleaded guilty to second degree murder, armed criminal action, and filing a false police report in connection to the June 2009 beating death of Willard Bryant Payne of University City.

Jones was ordered to serve 15 years in prison for her role in the crime.

Jones and her friend, 28 year old Dawn Fulks, met the victim near the Kennedy Forest area of the park and began smoking marijuana.

Jones and Fulks claimed Payne tried to sexually assault them, and they were forced to fight off the attack, eventually beating the victim to death and then leaving the park.

Fulks was tried by a jury in September and was convicted for her part in the attack and lying to police. She was sentenced to a twenty year prison term.
