EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KSDK) - Police are investigating after a UPS driver was robbed at gunpoint.

The incident happened around 1 p.m. in the 500 block of North 22nd Street. The UPS driver made a stop and noticed a suspicious blue van.

A man in a mask then got into the truck with the driver and forced him to drive as the blue van followed behind.

The suspect made the driver stop in the 3700 block of North Park in Washington Park, Illinois. That's when both suspects started rifling through packages, throwing some of them into their van.

A spokesperson for UPS says the driver was unharmed and did not work on Tuesday. He has been with the company since the late 1980s.

Other drivers have been warned about the incident, and all are asked to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity.

It is unclear how many packages were taken.

If customers were expecting a package and are concerned, they can call 1-800-PICK-UPS.
