JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) - A 37-year-old Arnold man was extradited to Alabama in a years-long murder investigation, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

According to Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, detectives from his office assisted Mobile County, Alabama authorities in arresting Scott Jones at his residence on Elk Ridge Drive on Monday, December 17.

Mobile County authorities allege Scott Jones broke into an elderly couple's home in February 2010 during the night and attacked the couple with a blunt object. The elderly man was killed and his wife left incapacitated.

Investigators believe Scott Jones fled Mobile County and moved to Arnold, Boyer said.

Scott Jones was charged with murder and attempted murder by the State of Alabama, with cash-only bonds set at $100,000 and $50,000, respectively. Jones waived extradition and was taken back to Mobile County, Alabama.
